Citi Bike station installation in SoHo

I happened upon this Citi Bike crew installing a station at West Broadway and Spring Street yesterday. Specifically, the workers are raising the station’s solar pole into position.

Although I’m not one for the “war on cars” language that’s so common in mainstream media coverage of cycling issues, this does bring to mind the Marines raising the flag over Iwo Jima.

    I saw some crew installing a station on Jay St, just south of the southeast corner of Tillary around 8pm last night. Then I biked past it later at 2am to see they had moved it to the northwest corner just north of Johnson St. Progress!

    The Iwo Jima photo was staged by the photographer, turns out. You didn’t stage this I trust…
