I’m heading out on vacation for a few days and will be back on Monday. Great timing, too, since there isn’t a whole lot more to say about today’s events that you can’t read on Twitter or elsewhere. For now the best way you can celebrate is to simply get on your bike and go out for a ride. If you happen to do it on Prospect Park West, ring your bell a few extra times for me.

Has the possibility of license plates for bicycles been entertained? The threat of being reported with identification might subdue some of the more daredevilish riders.
Congratulations. Glad this is over. If they try to appeal…jeez.
Anyway, happy that some common sense can return one way or another.
Here’s to safe streets!!!
Hi, Evelyn. Many politicians have suggested this and it has been tried in other municipalities. It usually fails due to cost and logistics.
Either way, it’s hard to say that the threat of being identified would lead to better behavior. Thousands of people are injured in car accidents and hundreds are killed every year, all at the hands of (mostly) licensed drivers in cars with license plates.
Happy to direct you to some information on this subject. There are some great articles about it.
