Must be tough to apprehend the driver when a) all you have is THE FREAKING LICENSE PLATE NUMBER and b) all the cops are busy citing cyclists for riding thru empty crosswalks in the park.
when I got hit by a driver who would not stay for the arrival of PD, I had his actual physical license, wrote down the plate (expired New Jersey), the make & model, his home phone, which I later called to check was real. He was uninsured. He said “they’re gonna put me in jail”, that it was his sister’s car, but wouldn’t give me her name or her insurance company. It took two weeks to get a copy of the accident report. No fault would not cover the cost of my xray, because I didn’t go to the hospital. The orthopedist cancelled my appointment for an exam because “I had to go through ‘No Fault'”. the cops told me on the spot that nothing would happen to him because they didn’t see the accident happen.
